Thoughts about fasting

Reading this post about fasting and its benefits actually made me yell and say a bunch of not so cool words!! So very often we're bombarded with the idea that us women eat to much, we're to big and therefore we need to punish ourselves. There's the constant message that we need to stop eating to gain control over our lives and our bodies. The idea of fasting as a good for you and your body just confirms that indeed we need to punish our bodies and stop eating for a day or two so we learn our lesson.

According to the article drinking water/herbal tea for a full day will give the body "time away from the duty of digesting and it will allow more space for it to focus on the other jobs that need addressing"!?
I don't know about you, but I got stuck in the "jobs that need addressing" idea. Isn't it ignoring that you are starving and the 2liters of water or herbal tea is not helping you to focus in any other thing rather than "I am really, really hungry and need a sandwich" a job that needs to be addressed quickly!?

Its January and you know what that means!? Gym memberships and hours of guilty feelings because in your head and in the society we live in, eating is something that needs to be controlled, especially during Christmas, and that is a sin to find pleasure in a nice piece of chocolate or cheesecake.

I believe in a balance diet and that life's to short to be worried about food constantly!!
